PROFILE

Phil Cooper is a professional photographer with over 15 years of commercial experience, and work that has been extensively published in magazines, books, newspapers and posters in many corners of the globe.

Phil's broad experience in multiple fields of photography has led to him being equally comfortable in the studio or on location. Whether it's daytime or a night shoot, his attention to detail combined with his creativity and technical background brings images to life with a fresh, unique style.

Phil's fascination with capturing a moment in time emerged at the age of 6. His passion continued to develop through his school years after which his quest for knowledge led him to a technical position in an industrial processing laboratory. Here he learnt the foundation of film and print processing, and manipulation, which is the backbone of image creation.

Phil coupled this platform of knowledge with his ever-increasing time behind the camera to gain entry to one of England's premier photography colleges in Salisbury, where he was able to blend the technical with the creative. Here he completed a 3-year full-time degree in photography, film and television.

After a brief period of assisting in London, Phil was snatched-up by a London-based publishing house who utilized his talents as a photographer for two years, during which time he expanded his capacities with qualifications in journalism.

Phil's next chapter took him abroad managing teams of photographers on jobs in Europe, Scandinavia, the Americas and Asia, finally settling in Australia 10 years ago. After travelling around and familiarizing himself with his new country he spent four years as chief photographer at a publishing house which boasted 30-plus magazine titles. He has since spent 7-years as a freelance photographer servicing editorial, advertising and corporate clients.
